While some people think of their dental website as a new toy which they can dress up, dress down, customize and experiment with, some dentists leave their dental sites bare with nothing more than just a list of the services they offer, a sleep-inducing About Us page and the standard Contact Us text box.

However, studies have showed that the effectiveness of any website as a marketing tool is contingent upon how long visitors choose to linger on that site. This is understandable enough: if your visitors leave your site promptly after arriving, then they surely weren’t impressed with your website and the services which you offered. Luckily, this isn’t a hopeless dilemma. Here are a couple of things you can do to spruce up your dental site:

1. Come up with a classy design concept and then de-clutter your website accordingly.

People gravitate towards beautiful things, which is why every website needs a decent number of graphics. But when you fill your dental site with just about any picture just because you can, then it becomes cluttered, messy and uninviting. While you don’t have to be a minimalist but creating a sleek design does not hurt at all.

2. Make your website easy to read.

There’s nothing more irritating for a visitor than to find a website with font colors that contrast with its background color. Your visitors would very much like to view your website without having to go to the eye clinic right after. Another thing which is annoying is the use of small fonts.

3. Don’t be too formal with your content.

A good dentist is personable and can easily build good rapport with his or her patients. Since you’re trying to sell your services as a dentist, your website should reflect how relatable you are in real life. One way to do this is to ensure that your site content is written in a not too formal tone but at the same time, not too casual that you compromise your credibility as a professional. A little dental joke here and there is enough to break the cyber ice.

4. Launch marketing promotions on your dental site.

Doing this not only excites the curiosity of your visitors because there’s something in it for them, but you can also use this strategy to get your online visitors to visit your offline clinic. You can probably offer special internet discounts for various procedures or hold an online contest.
